Psalm 34 is associated with a season when David escaped danger, not a season when everything worked out easily. He praises God while speaking honestly about fear and trouble. 'Close to the brokenhearted' does not promise that pain will end by dinner; it says distress is not evidence that you have been abandoned. You do not have to tidy up your story before bringing it to God.
