There Is Room to Grieve

Grief · About 6 minutes

“Jesus wept.”

John 11:35

Tears are not a failure of faith.

John places Jesus' tears at the tomb of Lazarus, within a story where Jesus also speaks of resurrection. That sequence matters: hope does not make him stand at a distance from the sorrow in front of him. If someone tells you to be strong or move on because you have faith, this scene offers a different picture. Love can grieve even while holding onto hope.
