Most of a meaningful life is built where no one is watching.
Paul's words to the Colossians include workers with little control over their conditions. Reading this verse as 'work harder for your boss' misses its deeper point: their dignity did not depend on a human supervisor's approval. Your task has worth even if it is unnoticed, repetitive, or far from the career you hoped to have. At the same time, this passage must not be used to excuse exploitation or unsafe work.
