Contentment is learned, not found.
Paul says he has learned contentment in both abundance and need. In Philippians 4, he is thanking people who supported him materially, so he is not dismissing the importance of money or telling people in hardship to stop asking for help. His confidence in Christ sits alongside real generosity from others. Contentment is not denial of a bill on the table.
